Let’s get it on.

You know what's coming up... That's right - music festival season.

SXSW, Coachella, Bonaroo, Warped Tour, Lollapalooza. And that isn’t even touching base with the festivals in Europe. I know, I know. It’s hot, crazy, and you bought the three day pass. But, you don’t want to be caught in the “hippie on acid” look, do you? Yeah, me neither. So here’s the lowdown.

What should be in your suitcase, or backpack… or VW Van.

Obviously, your favorite pair of denim shorts. Brand new or worn, we won’t judge.

Skip the worn maxi skirt and opt instead for a bright swing dress. The style still says you want to be comfortable, but the length says, ‘I’m here to have fun!’

What cooler way to layer in the heat than a denim vest? Pun intended. Whether it’s studded, fitted, or well worn, this item is a must-have.

A bustier is the perfect pairing with denim shorts. It’s fitted, sexy style can be cooled down a bit with floral patterns and pastel colors. Or go bold in all your sexy glory.

Get your hippie look on with without looking like you just walked out of a field. Throw a flowy crop top on. Show off your natural side with a light, lacy fabric or make a statement with a witty one liner printed on the front.

Boots. ‘Nuff said.

Keep the sun out of your eyes and hide your untamed hair under a great hat. Try on multiple silhouettes and colors to find the perfect hat for you.

Accessorize with some colorful jewelry (sans the beat up lanyard braids). Gold and silver are all the rage but don’t forget the bulky bangles and bauble rings.

And last but not least, bring a trusty belt. Preferably leather. Preferably sturdy. You never know what you’ll end up using it for.

Now, I’ll confess. No, I’ve never been to a music festival before. But, all of my friends have and I’ve seen the photos. Don’t make the mistakes they did (maxi skirts in the rain, anyone?).
